Nothing Phone (3) Unveiled: Glyph Matrix and Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 Lead the Charge

The Nothing Phone (3) has officially arrived, marking a new chapter for the company as it enters the true flagship smartphone market. With a significant redesign and a focus on premium features, the Phone (3) aims to stand out from the competition.

A Radical Design and the New Glyph Matrix

The most notable change in the Nothing Phone (3) is the redesigned back panel. While retaining the transparent aesthetic that is the company's signature, Nothing has moved away from the expansive Glyph lighting strips of its predecessors. The new "Glyph Matrix" is a circular, dot-style display composed of 489 LEDs. This tiny secondary screen can show the time, battery percentage, volume levels, and even act as a Magic 8 Ball. A new dedicated "Essential Key" button on the frame allows users to quickly cycle through these options and is also tied to new AI features.

Display and Performance

The Nothing Phone (3) sports a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution ( pixels), a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, and HDR10+ support. The display promises a vibrant and responsive experience with a peak brightness of 4,500 nits. The phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset, paired with up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. The company has committed to providing 5 years of Android OS updates and 7 years of security patches, a commendable policy that aligns it with Google's Pixel flagships.

A Versatile Camera System

Nothing has equipped the Phone (3) with a highly capable camera system, featuring three 50MP sensors on the rear and a 50MP selfie camera. The rear setup includes:

  • A 50MP main wide-angle camera with OIS.

  • A 50MP ultrawide lens.

  • A 50MP periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and OIS, offering up to 60x digital zoom.

This triple-camera system provides versatility for various photography and videography needs, with the new periscope lens being a key upgrade for the brand.

Battery and Charging

The Nothing Phone (3) is equipped with a substantial 5,500mAh battery (for the Indian variant) and supports 65W wired charging, which can charge the phone from 1% to 100% in under an hour. It also includes 15W wireless charging and 5W reverse wireless charging. The phone features an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance and is protected by Gorilla Glass 7i on the front and Gorilla Glass Victus on the back.

Pricing and Availability

The Nothing Phone (3) is available in two variants:

  • 12GB RAM + 256GB Storage: Priced at around $799 or ₹79,999.

  • 16GB RAM + 512GB Storage: Priced at around $899 or ₹89,999.
